Minimoon adventure | October 14-16, 2017 | Prince edward county, ontario
We got married on September 29, 2017, right smack dab at the end of wedding season. We had four weddings in our editing backlog and no time for a honeymoon. So we hit the road for a quick weekend trip to Prince Edward County.
Our plan was to eat (check), drink (check), visit some wineries (check) and get some cool drone footage (too rainy and windy for that). We were starving when we arrived so we went to a pizza place we saw as we drove into town, and enjoyed a flight of beers with our lunch. The notes you see me taking are business ideas for 2018. We wanted to take it easy the first night so we got some fruits, cheeses and charcuterie to eat while we watched The Good Place (great show!)
On day two, we headed to Wellington for lunch, and stopped at Karlo Estates Winery. We had the pleasure of speaking to the owner for a few minutes, then we walked around a little and enjoyed a tasting of what they have to offer. We purchased a bottle and headed out.
Lunch was the Drake Devonshire, which we HIGHLY recommend. The fried chicken sandwich is not to be missed. We arrived early so we grabbed some drinks and sat by the water on an empty patio--it was a cool and windy day and we were the only ones crazy enough to venture out the back.
Dinner reservations were made for Blumen Garden Bistro in Picton--but alas, the weather worsened and the entire town lost power about two hours before we were due to arrive. The restaurant called and advised us to call ahead in case they couldn't restore the electricity, and though it came on again later, they had already closed for the night and we missed out. We drove through the creepy, horror-movie setting of a small town with no lights on to find the only other location in town with power was KFC. We passed on that and returned to our Airbnb and ate some leftovers from dinner the night before.
Before we headed home on day three, we wanted to take a walk on the beach. It was still windy but had warmed up considerably, attracting lots of windsurfers. Having so enjoyed our lunch the day before, we decided to go back to the Drake again on our way out of town.
Hopefully we'll find time to take a real honeymoon in 2018--and that will be a video to watch out for!
