So you’ve hired someone to film your wedding
Congratulations! You made a great choice to document a special day
But how can you help ensure your film is as great as it can be?
1. Talk to your videographer
Every video team has a different process, but we all want clients who are as invested in the outcome as we are. Ask them what you can do to help
2. Make sure to schedule time specifically for video portraits
Photos and video are very different – video requires a great deal more movement to produce an engaging film, and standing still posing for photos isn’t interesting.
Many photographers like movement as well, to create candid and creative images, but others like to pose their subjects, so we ask for at least 30 minutes on the schedule just for video.
3. BE YOURSELVES. I cannot stress this enough.
It means not only moving naturally together and focusing on one another but also planning to include personal details in your vows and speeches
If you’re not saying personal vows, consider writing letters you can record, sharing inside jokes, what you love about one another, and hopes for the future. All of this will help us make your film more personal and meaningful
4. Have fun!
Wedding days can be unpredictable. You’ll plan for months and invest a lot of time and money in your wedding day, but the truth is anything can happen, from inclement weather to late deliveries and difficult relatives.
Make up your mind in advance to accept anything that goes wrong and just enjoy the day together.
The fact is that if you’re stressed or upset, it’ll show on your face, and instead of remembering the joy when you watch your film, you’ll remember your stress and unhappiness.
